The Up and Down collection explores the question of leisure seating. In today’s world, where everyone seems to be sitting all the time, I understand leisure as a way of achieving creativity through bodily movement. This object ensures that each sitting is a unique experience. They support sitting or lying on the ground, as well as sitting at a standard height in a traditional manner. However, in this position, the objects remain slightly unstable, encouraging us to stay flexible. The legs of the seating are filled with loose material, making them stable supports while sitting. However, when unfolded, they transform into soft cushions suitable for various sitting and lying positions

Change is a key aspect not only of leisure sitting but also of life itself. The world needs change. I focus on various positions that our bodies should adopt more frequently. This approach is based on the understanding that our bodies are naturally designed for movement. It is therefore essential to encourage as much variability in body positions as possible. The work concludes that the product itself must be designed in such a way that its manipulation is not an obstacle but rather a stimulus for more frequent changes during rest. Ideally, a change in position should occur every 15 minutes.

The work builds on the motto that “nothing changes without a change” and leaves it up to us to decide how we understand the need for change and transformation.
